Sorry I haven't posted in a while... busy busy!
I went to see the London play "Woman in Black" yesterday for Drama, for those who dont know about the play, here's a descripton:
"Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor, is summoned to attend the funeral of Mrs Alice Drablow, the house's sole inhabitant, unaware of the tragic secrets which lie hidden behind the shuttered windows. It is not until he glimpses a wasted young woman, dressed all in black, at the funeral, that a creeping sense of unease begins to take hold, a feeling deepened by the reluctance of the locals to talk of the woman in black - and her terrible purpose. Years later, as an old man, he recounts his experiences to an actor in a desperate attempt to exorcise the ghosts of the past. The play unfolds around the conversations of these two characters as they act out the solicitor's experiences on Eel Marsh all those years ago"
Having just celebrated their 9000th performance, I thought it must be a good play and it couldn't be THAT scary....
Boy was I wrong
I hate scary films, the only one I can sit through is "Scream" but I find that hilarious :) My drama told me and my friend that she has seen it before and she still gets jumpy, oh dear.
When we got to the Fortune Theatre we found out that we were in the upper circle, which was good because I feel that you get a much better view of the stage from there. But the upper circle was full and cramped, there was barely any space to move and the chairs were REALLY creaky, so it felt really arkward when I had to move around. But when it got down to the play it was dark and mysterious and the sound effects is probably the main thing that makes you jump, the loud screams come on about 3 times, and is even louder because everyone else is screaming around you, I don't know how the actors can stay focused!
One funny part was when everyone thought something was gonna happen, everyone was on the edge of their seats, it's when the person came on with a candle and a shadow of a hand came on the screen, EVERYONE thought it was the woman in black, so everyone started screaming.... Sadly it was his hand... whoops
I think woman in black was insanley good and I would recommend to people who like a good fright or for fun people who think they wont get scared. TRUST ME, boys behind me look petrifed :)
Oh and the ending is just epic... I don't want to ruin so you'll have to go and see it!!
Bye!
Siann x
